Waitakere City was the name of a city which existed from 1989 until 2010 in the Auckland region. It was New Zealand's fifth largest city, with an annual growth of about 2%. It was part of the Auckland region, and was replaced by the Auckland Council.

As per June 2010 estimations the population of Waitakere is approximatly 208,100 and the area is around 82 KM2.
